Symposium winning presenters received a $500 travel award to be used towards costs associated with attending the professional conference of their choice. Awards were sponsored by the Smalley-Curl Institute and the following departments: Bioengineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and NanoEngineering, and Physics and Astronomy.

Faculty Keynote Speakers

Dr. Antonios Mikos, Louis Calder Professor of Bioengineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; Director, Center for Excellence in Tissue Engineering and the J.W Cox Laboratory of Biomedical Engineering
Dr. Gururaj Naik, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

Program Information

We invite graduate students in the Applied Physics, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and NanoEngineering, and Statistics departments to present a 5 or 12 minute talk on their current research.

With an emphasis on promoting professional development, the meeting will provide students with an opportunity to fine-tune their oral presentation skills. We are partnering with the Center for Written, Oral, and Visual Communication (CWOVC) to provide a special workshop on developing talks and one-on-one coaching sessions!

The best presenters will be awarded travel grants to attend professional meetings (judged by attendees in a "people's choice" style). Faculty, postdocs, undergraduates, and non-presenting graduate students are encouraged to attend to hear about the latest exciting results from various groups across campus! We ask all guests (presenting or not) to register to assist us with event planning, as we will be serving both breakfast and lunch and conclude with a networking reception. (Please note: Only registered guests will be able to vote.)

Abstracts due January 18, 2017 by 5:00 PM

For all other guests, registration deadline is February 6, 2017 at 5:00 PM

Note: abstracts are due at time of registration. See abstract template here.
